How To Get To Sandakan

If you are from Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia's capital city), AirAsia and Firefly have two (2X) direct flight daily to Sandakan. And, not less than 10 flight daily from/to Kota Kinabalu and Tawau. The Kota Kinabalu International Airport is serviced by most international airlines, getting direct international air links from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Seoul, Tokyo, Brunei, Taipeh, Kaoshiung, Manila, Cebu, as well as  Kuala Lumpur and nearby Kuching, Sarawak.

Travel from Kota Kinabalu, Lahad Datu and Tawau also possible by air-conditioned coach and mini bus but it will take more than 6 or 7 hours. Air-conditioned buses leave Kota Kinabalu for Sandakan from the bus station on Kolombong Bus Terminal from about 7 am daily; single fare is approximately RM35. Return buses from Sandakan leave from Mile 2.5 in Jalan Labuk from about 6.30 am daily.
